TIME OF TRANSITION
There is no escape from the rapid change in China. Construction sites are such a part of the architectural landscape that the horizon is covered with more cranes than pagodas. While this transition from destruction to construction does not generate poetic images, SongLi has documented the look of this process that is now interwoven into modern Chinese life.
The exact geographic location of where each photograph in this exhibit collection was taken around Dalian is marked on this interactive map.

Please Note: many of the older and more historic areas of Dalian have undergone drastic renovation over the years. Therefore, original landmarks may not currently remain, but the original photographic location is indicated accurately.
