| Tour Highlights: |
Fujiazhuang Scenic Area
One of the largest bathing beaches in Dalian, it is only five kilometers from downtown and another major summer attraction for Dalian.
Bird's Nest Cliff
The cliff is a major tourist attraction in Dalian because of its fantastic scenery. It is also an excellent spot for fishing. The location takes its name from the many birds that build their home atop the cliff.
North (Beida) Bridge
Also known as "Lover Bridge," the 230 meter suspension was built in 1987 and has an inspiring view of the Dalian coastline.
Tiger Beach
Tiger Beach is one of the best beaches in Dalian and excellent for swimming. Surrounded by mountains, its name is derived from rock outcroppings in the sea that resemble a sleeping tiger (*). A public park is located on the East section of the beach, entertainment facilities at its center, and an aquatic amusement park featuring dolphin shows to the West. The area is also home to the largest aviary in China.
Note: (*) There is an old legend that a fierce tiger once prowled the beach area, attacking local people. A youth named Shi Cao volunteered to hunt the tiger and stop its rampage. Both he and the tiger died during their battle, and Shi was proclaimed a hero. Visitors today can still see natural memorials to this struggle at the park. Half-Gone Hill resembles a wounded tiger, and Shicao Hill resembles a giant resting on the sea among the Tiger's Tooth Reef. |
