| Tour Information: |
No visit to China is complete without a mountain climb to a spiritual temple. While Dalian is not home to the legendary fighting monks of Southwestern China, it does boast several highly enlightened locations. Dahei Mountain, with the temples at its summit and base, are among the most treasured sights in the Provence. The national park is a required visit for spiritual pilgrims.
After a light rail ride to the Dalian Economic Zone, Dahei Mountain only is a short ride from the commerce district but literally worlds away. Visitors should be prepared for a physically active day. While the mountain path is clearly step with carved stone steps, some spots are quite challenging. For example, near the top is an almost 70 degree row of 200 steps. But enduring the ascent is part of the spiritual cleansing process, as visitors arrive at the temple gates in a state of inner peace. |
| Tour Highlights: |
Dahei Mountain
Daheishan (Big Black Mountain) also was called as Dahaoshan (Great Monk Mountain). Located on the edge of Dalian's Economic Zone and Jinzhou District, Dahei Mountain belongs to the Changban and Qian Mountain chain. Its highest peak (663 km above sea level) offers a "look-out" view of the whole area, stretching as far as Jinzhou District, Dalian Economic Zone, Downtown Dalian, the Bohai and Yellow Seas, and the Bays of Dayao, Xiaoyao, Dalian, and Jinzhou.
Dahei Village
Southeast of the mountain, the remains of this old village is the entrance to the long path that leads up to Shigu Temple. Originally a carving factory established by the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to excavate stones for Imperial use, the deep gorge remains where the ancient buildings once stood.
Shigu Temple
Also known as Palace of the Tang Emperor, it was originally built in at the beginning of the Sui Dynasty (580-618 A.D.) and repaired at the end of the Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.). The mountain top temple complex is famous for as a historical site.
Chaoyang Temple
Built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), it was originally named Mingxiu Temple. But because of its beautiful scenery, it was later remained as Chaoyang Temple. Chaoyang Temple kept the traditional architectural style of Chinese Buddhism in the Ming and Qing dynasty (1644-1911), and is famous for its Temple Festivals.
Xiangshui Temple
Located on the Northwest side of Dahei Mountain, it is a famous Taoist Temple from the Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D.). Its old stone deity statues are located in a natural underground cave 40 meters long, with a flowing spring water pond. |
